Data Engineer

Stonegate Group is the largest pub company in the UK. We are recruiting for a Data Engineer to join our FP&A Data & Analytics team.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who can join UK's largest pub company and join our data transformation projects. This role will later evolve into a full-stack data analyst role capable of delivering all phases of end-to-end analytical projects such as:

• Understanding the business problem
• Identify the data sources required
• Extract and ingest necessary data in the data lake
• Transform data
• Analyse data
• Visualise data
• Build a story and present

The initial scope of the role will be to:

• Work with stakeholders across the business to understand their requirements around data provisioning
• Work with the documentation and external teams to understand the structure of the data source and the best way to connect to them
• Implement data ingestion and data transformation following the DevOps spirit
• Build automated tests

• Demonstrates a passion for and deep knowledge of advanced data analytics
• Operationally proficient with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver clear results
• A team player with excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across organisational boundaries, embrace change, and work in matrix management arrangements
• Strong negotiation, influencing and presentation skills
• Self-reliant, resilient and proactive
• An evident passion for the hospitality industry is essential

Technical skills you must have

• SQL (significant, demonstrable experience preferrable)
• Python (significant, demonstrable experience preferrable)

Tools you will be using

• Python for data ingestion
• dbt for data transformation and documentation
• Snowflake – our data warehouse
• Power BI for data visualisation at later stages

The Solihull Pub Support Team offices are light and airy offices in Shirley, Solihull, where you will be greeted by our Welcome Team. We have free onsite secure parking with EV charging and cycle storage, a subsidised canteen serving breakfast and lunch, as well as an onsite pub used for social events. The offices are fully accesible.
