Packaging Team Manager

We're seeking a Packaging Department Manager to safely manage the technical performance and optimization of a specific area in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.


What will you be doing?


Our Packaging Department Manager is responsible for ensuring SHHEQ compliance and continuous improvement in line with company procedures and targets. You’ll optimise plant operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness and collaborate with various teams to maintain hygiene and GMP audit performance. Your ability to identify and implement plant improvements through capital investment opportunities will be highly valued.


You'll foster a customer-centric approach by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and take pride in assisting with budget development while operating within set budgets. Providing technical training and mentorship for Operations personnel, Graduates, and Process Engineers will be part of your daily routine.


You will;

  • Manage up to ten packing lines per area and oversee associated equipment, such as sugar routing, milling, palletising
  • Be providing technical training and mentorship for Operations personnel, Graduates, and Process Engineers
  • Collaborate with Area Maintenance Leaders to enhance plant reliability and ensure technical / maintenance issues are resolved quickly
  • Lead a team of talented Process Engineers for process optimization and technical input
  • Oversee Area Cleaner contractors to ensure smooth operations


What are we looking for?


  • Strong background in Safety, Hygiene, Environment, and Quality management
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment for industrial and retail sales
  • Exceptional people skills, communication, and people management abilities
  • Appreciation of Sales, Marketing, and Finance interfaces
  • Proficient in numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent planning, prioritising, and IT aptitude
  • Ability to quickly gain technical understanding and knowledge of processes and equipment
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment
  • Technical graduate degree in an engineering discipline preferred
