About the Role

We are looking for a technically minded junior video editor to apply their skills in content production and editing. This role will support The Athletic’s team of producers and editorial team to build and maintain a news-focused video product. Our ideal candidate will have good experience in video editing and post-production in a fast-paced environment and have a good knowledge and a keen interest in technical equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones and editing software.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the production team on video projects, with support and oversight.
  • Contribute to the technical management of livestreams with large audiences.
  • Maintain, clean and manage our kit.
  • Edit several videos per week, with a focus on quick-turnaround, and multi-format renders.
  • Work with the operations team uploading our videos and creating thumbnails, writing metadata, descriptions, titles & performing general channel & community management on various distribution platforms.
  • Contribute to the technical management of live-action shoots.
  • Direct basic live-action shoots, including audio capture.
  • Assist the other video production teams and editors with additional editing when required.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experienced in Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Good editing skills.
  • Good level of professionalism; driven and motivated with excellent follow-up.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broadcast journalism experience, and/or social video editing experience in the sports media industry is desirable.
  • Must be based in London.
  • Must be available to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
