About the role:

As the largest Museum in the UK, the British Museum offers unparalleled opportunities to work with a priceless collection of more than 8 million objects from around the world. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues across the British Museum on the planning of collection moves and the management of logistics during the Blythe House decant project.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Work with the Project Manager to plan and monitor delivery of relevant Blythe House decant activities, with a particular focus on logistics.
  • Manage a team of Assistant Collection Managers to complete the movement, packing and rehousing of objects across the collection.
  • Develop logistics protocols for use in British Museum areas of Blythe House and communicate those across the Museum and to external stakeholders and contractors.
  • Develop methodologies and tools to ensure that object transport is coordinated using information about the collection.
  • Manage logistics on site at Blythe House during the Blythe House decant programme and be in regular communication with colleagues from other institutions.
  • Coordination of contractor and supplier activity at Blythe House ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services.
