Position Overview & Specifications

The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession. We hold the national registers of over 229,000 Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng), Chartered Engineers (CEng) and Information and Communications Technology Technicians (ICTTech).

In addition, the Engineering Council sets and maintains the internationally recognised standards of professional competence and ethics that govern the award and retention of these titles. This ensures that employers, government, and wider society - both in the UK and overseas - can have confidence in the knowledge, experience and commitment of professionally registered engineers and technicians.

We are currently seeking an experienced ICT Support Technician to support the operation of the organisation’s ICT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the business-as-usual operations
  • Support day-to-day use of systems and applications, providing ad-hoc help and training
  • Maintain ICT assets, including tracking and the ethical and legal disposal of equipment
  • Automation and validation of configuration systems
  • Document ICT systems and processes
  • Database maintenance, backups and recovery
  • Check and validate data and system security and integrity
  • Data driven report writing, maintenance and validation
  • Assist the Database & ICT Manager in their day-to-day role and deputising where necessary
  • Contribute to wider organisational work as appropriate

Experience and Key Technical Skills:

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of security issues at all levels
  • Good Microsoft Office application knowledge
  • Good Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory management (Microsoft 365 hybrid)
  • Experience of hardware troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of PowerShell
  • Knowledge of VMWare
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL querying and database management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (hybrid)
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of CRM systems
  • Experience with meeting room Audio/Video equipment
  • Experience with telephony systems (VOIP, Android, Apple)
  • Experience with application and service migration
  • Knowledge or experience with ITIL
  • Experience in firewall management
  • Experience with asset management
  • Experience with business and process analysis
