Job Details

Under the leadership of Dr Basil Greber, we are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Training Fellow to join the Structural Biology of DNA Repair Complexes team to perform structural and functional studies of nucleotide excision repair (NER), a key DNA repair pathway in eukaryotic cells.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will reconstitute functional DNA repair complexes, determine of their structures by cryo-EM, and collaborate with other groups to test structure-based hypotheses experimentally and obtain new functional insight into the molecular mechanisms of NER.
You will have access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM facilities with an in-house Glacios microscope equipped with a Falcon 4i direct detector and access to Titan Krios microscopes via the LonCEM consortium and the eBIC facility at the Diamond Light Source. The division also hosts facilities for expression of protein complexes in advanced expression systems such as insect cells as well as a range of instruments for their biophysical characterisation.

General information on post-docs at The ICR can be found here.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or a related discipline with a proven track record in high-quality research. They should have demonstrable ability to drive a research project and incorporate new techniques, as well as in-depth expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology of DNA-/RNA-protein complexes or knowledge of structure determination by cryo-electron microscopy.

The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 10 years

We encourage all applicants to access the job pack attached for more detailed information regarding this role. For an informal discussion regarding the role, please contact Dr. Basil Greber via email on basil.greber@icr.ac.uk.
