About Us

Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.

We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome. We were pioneers in electronic music and have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing.

As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team. We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride.

Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1. The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office.

There’s great home cooked F&B, a state of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme. The building has its own events and conference space and we’re about to introduce our own premium range of candles, diffusers, soaps, and other body care products.

We believe this is the office of the future, members love it and it has been a big success. We are taking this a stage further with the opening of our second site at Westfield, White City in early 2024.

Members will access the office via an urban garden before ascending an escalator to a bar and deli with a five-metre floor to ceiling height. In addition to a private gym for members, the workspace will include wellness studios, a bakery, rooftop bar and restaurant, juice bar and a champagne & doughnut bar, all public facing. There will also be an events and conference facility and multiple other products and amenities not typically associated with a workspace.

Our rooftop will be a high quality, 150 cover lounge style destination restaurant and bar serving delicious South-East Asian inspired food designed for sharing in a fun and informal setting. Customers will enjoy drinks, bites and bowls throughout the day and evening. We’ll have a speakeasy style arrival journey, all-year-round rooftop terrace, DJs in the evenings and bottomless brunches over the weekend.

The Role

We seek a dynamic, hands-on Head Chef with a strong knowledge of South-East Asian food to open and lead our 150-cover rooftop bar and restaurant located above The Ministry Shepherds Bush (opening 2024).

Experience of a new opening and the development of scratch cooked menus, trials and implementation of systems and processes will be essential.

You will have experience of a new, high profile, restaurant opening and have strong creativity, culinary knowledge, and imagination. You are a passionate foodie with the outstanding ability to demonstrate natural flair with a good palate.

You will have excellent all-round knowledge of cuisines, cooking techniques and processes and be a technically and commercially astute Chef with impeccable attention to detail and obsessive about perfecting the best quality product.

You will take personal responsibility for the delivery of first-class cooking by the culinary team, ensuring that everything leaving the kitchen is delivered to the highest standards and delicious.
