Position Overview & Specifications
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineer, Mechanical to join us at our Edinburgh site. The available position is a 12 month fixed term role, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The purpose of the role is to assist the Company’s Engineering Team by efficiently and effectively maintaining the operations of all Engineering equipment on site.
Skills & Experience:
Background
A confident and experienced Engineer, familiar with maintenance of assets in a manufacturing or FMF environment.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with a focus on flexibility and efficiency. Prioritises a safety-conscious approach to all activities.
Technical Experience
- EITB / City & Guilds or equivalent time served Engineering Apprenticeship
- IBD Fundamentals
- Basic PC Skills - Use of: Email, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Health, Safety & Environment
- IOSH Managing Safely or ability to work towards
- Working knowledge of relevant HSE legislation
- Trained, competent and experienced in Permit to Work systems, risk assessments and method statements

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with contractors to ensure work is properly planned and coordinated
- Ability to prioritise workload as assigned by supervisor
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring that all engineering equipment and onsite maintenance operations meet the necessary health and safety requirements, complying with current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for employees
1. Maintaining an awareness of the regulatory and Company standards that apply to the role such as HMRC, COMAH and H&S. COMAH specific - Understand and act in accordance with the Site Emergency Response Plan in the event of an evacuation or major incident, and regularly participate in COMAH improvement activity.
2. Performing day to day engineering maintenance tasks to overhaul, repair and test all mechanical equipment
3. Development of mechanical Planned Preventive maintenance routines
4. Troubleshooting any breakdowns or anomalies of plant engineering equipment, taking corrective action where required
5. Operation of the Company’s Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO), ensuring the robust collection and analysis of availability and operating data on key assets to demonstrate that performance standards are being achieved and identify improvement opportunities
6. Assist with the installation of engineering equipment where required by plant improvement or safety requirements
7. Assist the Production Department with the operation of unmanned areas out with normal working hours
8. Ensuring that engineering shift cover is always provided
9. Maintaining and adhering to a clear vision of the Company’s business objectives and cultural standards when executing all site engineering developments
10. Liaising with production and operation departments to provide maintenance services and making recommendations for improvement when required
11. Maintaining good housekeeping standards across site on a day to day basis
