Position Overview & Specifications
Assist the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in the provision of the broad range of pharmacy services provided across the Trust.
Provide a pharmacy service including dispensing drugs (including clinical trials) to patients and providing information as requested under the supervision of Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacist.
To assist with manufacturing products within the Aseptic Unit.
Work using own initiative, referring to a supervisor - a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist when necessary
Support the Clinical Trials Pharmacists and Senior Technician in clinical trials by assisting in the management of clinical trials stock, dispensing and all associated paperwork. Participate in the provision of an extended pharmacy service.
To participate in the routine environmental monitoring of the Aseptic area. This includes settle plating ,surface sampling and air sampling of the isolators and preparation rooms for both compounding Total Parenteral Nutrition and Cytotoxic (drugs used in the treatment of cancer) reconstitution, labelling and recording settle plates and ensuring that they are taken to Microbiology for incubation in a timely manner.
Be expected to expand and broaden their skills and abilities. They must operate under the direct supervision of a qualified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist unless operating according to agreed procedures that have been approved by the Director of Pharmacy.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust strives to innovate and improve care to patients. The Trust has recently approved the business case for a new pharmacy aseptic, clinical trials and radio pharmacy facility. The new facility is expected to be in operation at the end of 2024.
