Role Overview & Responsibilities

Applications are invited for a British Heart Foundation Programme Grant funded Research Associate position in Molecular Cardiology and Cardiac Physiology. You will be required to study whether targeting novel modulators of the Hippo Signalling Pathway will improve the outcomes of adverse cardiac remodelling following myocardial infarction. The research project will involve integrative pathophysiological studies of Hippo Pathway modulation in cardiomyocytes and in a model of myocardial infarction. Applicants must have a PhD (or in the final stages of their PhD, provided that the PhD will be completed at the start of the post), in the field of cardiovascular sciences, molecular biology or animal physiology. Experience in cardiomyocyte culture, adenovirus-mediated gene transfer, RNAi technology, in vivo genetic modulation using modRNA and adeno-associated virus technologies, classical molecular biology and histological techniques as well as performing in vivo cardiac physiology analysis in mouse are essential. Knowledge and experience in working on Hippo pathway is desirable.

The position is for a period of up to four years starting from 1st May 2023. The post is based in the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, University of Manchester.
