Role Overview & Responsibilities

Research Associate on the UMRI project “Adoption of 3D-printers by SMEs”

Applications are invited for two part-time positions or one full-time position as Research Associates working in the fields of innovation management and with engineering expertise in additive manufacturing(3D printing). This is an exciting opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary funded project with researchers at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, part of the Alliance Manchester Business School (Faculty of Humanities) and the Dept. of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering and Dept. of Materials (Faculty of Science and Engineering) aiming to provide insights into the adoption of 3D-printers by SMEs.

The successful applicants will be researchers with strong interests on digital technologies, in particular 3D printers, with a management and/or engineering background. The applicants will focus on understanding the changes in the business model, skills and organizational process that the firm requires to adopt 3D printers and/or act as knowledge broker of 3D printers for non-adopter firms. They will be the key nexus between the research team and the SMEs participating in the scoping exercise.

Closing date for applications is 22nd June 2023. Interviews will be held on 29th-30th June 2023.
