Position Overview & Specifications
The University of Manchester are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to help shape Greater Manchester’s built environment planning, development and management to transform the local population’s physical and mental health with a specific focus on transport and infrastructure development of the city-region. The successful applicant will join a large research consortium - funded through the UK Prevention Research Partnership (administered by the Medical Research Council) - whose aim is to reduce the burden of Non-Communicable Diseases linked to the built environment through the transformation of the urban planning and development systems across the UK. They will be supervised by the academic leads at the University of Manchester based at the Spatial Policy & Analysis Lab of the Manchester Urban Institute and the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care. The role demands a special blend of skills and experience that combines public health, epidemiology, large datasets, analytical, technical and methodological expertise.
