Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a London-based writer-editor to support the expansion of The 7, our morning briefing product, as we launch region-specific newsletters. The ideal candidate is an experienced editor with a varied news appetite who can write quickly, concisely and clearly.

This role requires someone who is precise, organized and communicative. We want a well-rounded journalist with excellent news judgment who has demonstrated an ability to identify the top stories of the day and to summarize key ideas in a short, simple format. The ideal candidate will have sharp editing skills and a passion for understanding audiences. The ability to provide clarity and context to the news quickly and simply is essential. We want a writer-editor who is often the first friend to drop into the group chat with a news story everyone should be talking about. Experience with short-form journalism or newsletters is preferred.

This writer-editor will primarily be responsible for helping curate, write, edit and send The 7 newsletters at 7 a.m. Eastern weekdays. They may also have the opportunity to work on other newsletters in The Post's portfolio. The expanding offerings from The 7 will help Washington Post audiences catch up on the most important and interesting stories to know every weekday morning in three minutes or less. This position may require early morning or night work and shifts on holidays or weekends. This role is based in London and will be hired through our U.K. entity, TWP International LLC; work authorization in the United Kingdom is required.

Those interested should upload a résumé, cover letter explaining your strengths for this role, and two to three writing samples to our jobs portal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but those received by 10/25/2022 will be prioritized.
