Position Overview & Specifications

A Health and safety officer is required to join a small team who provide consultancy and training services to a wide range of clients in the South Dorset area. Duties include carrying out site inspections and audits, writing risk assessments, policies, procedures, inductions etc

Also delivering a variety of training courses ranging from the delivery of tool box talks to formal accredited training courses eg IOSH and Nebosh

Must be a good communicator, have basic IT skills, a common sense approach and is able to provide pragmatic solutions and be able to build relationships with clients and provide ongoing support.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of industries including construction, manufacturing, warehousing and motor vehicle retail.

The Role

As the Health and Safety Consultant you will provide professional, high quality Health and Safety advisory services to a number of clients within the Yorkshire area. You will be one of the team ensuring best practice standards and working with key stakeholders to ensure a safe environment for all. Conducting risk assessments and audits and working with the team to deliver training and ensure policies and procedures are delivered effectively. This job is an opportunity to expand your experience as we have a diverse range of clients over many industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conduct Health and safety inspections
  • Management audits
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Fire risk assessments
  • Evaluate working practices at clients' site and provide solutions
  • Investigate incidents and produce accident reports and actions plans
  • To support the delivery of training
  • To assist in producing written health and safety policies
  • Carry out noise surveys
  • Face fit testing

About you:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ level 3 or equivalent is essential
  • Has Grad or Chartered IOSH membership or working towards this.
  • Experience of working in Health & Safety, ideally in a similar environment
  • Experience of delivering Health & Safety training
  • A passion for Health and Safety with the drive and motivation to influence others
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments and audits
  • To be a good communicator and provide solutions in a pragmatic way
  • Be adaptable and be able to provide a variety of services within a reasonable timescale.
  • Have a good command of literacy and IT skills
