Overview of role
The Power Electrical & Cooling, Procurement & Supply Chain Team is fully embedded within the Asset Performance & Capital Delivery (APCD) operations team. As part of a cross functional team, Commercial and Cost Managers work very closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners and Project Sponsors in respect of Project Cost Management protocols/controls and subsequent financial reports/analysis
The current focus for the team is supporting a circa £64Mpa integrated programme of works aimed at renewing and improving asset performance and capital delivery program for TFL across various areas of infrastructure. The Power and cooling team supports a diverse portfolio range from HV Power assets to electrical systems, cooling systems and asset maintenance program.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide the Commercial Managers/Projects with a total cost overview of programmes and individual projects through analysis and interpretation of project information.
- Managing project change.
- Compiling project and programme cost reports
- Ensure that all Approved Projects are managed in accordance with the LUL Cost Management Procedure.
- Ensure that all Project Estimate Summaries have comprehensive cost, time and resource documentation.
- Ensure that all Approved Projects are reported on the LUL financial management systems (WIF and SAP).
- Ensure accurate actual costs, cost of work done and forecasts; reflect the project programme, within the specified forecasting tolerances.
- Undertake cost loading of programmes
- Calculate, analyse, interpret and explain variances and relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on the projects.
- Ensure that a Project Cost Control System is implemented and maintained.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Well-developed listening skills, tact and diplomacy, and the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Excellent numeracy and data analysis skills (essential)
- Ability to Multi task and manage a busy pipeline of multiple project streams
- Ability to work as a team member as well as self-starter
- Results oriented
Knowledge
- Knowledge of cyclical management reporting and reviews.
- Knowledge of challenging costs to ensure effective cost management.
- Knowledge and skill in contributing positively to team negotiations.
- Understands risk management guidelines and control (desirable)
- Knowledge Project Governance and Project Pathway (desirable)
- Basic Commercial, Procurement & Contract knowledge (desirable)
Experience
- Extensive experience of SAP or similar enterprise systems (desirable)
- Extensive experience of Excel (essential)
- Extensive Experience of cost control in busy projects environment
- Experience working for the public sector or within similar environment (desirable)
