Overview of the role


A Telecoms Engineer within a well established pan-organisational team. The successful applicant will provide vital support for the initiation and delivery of our projects and programmes; delivering Mayoral Transport Strategy benefits, supporting the organisation’s safety priorities and delivering planned asset upgrades.


This role is centred around building the team’s Operational Telecoms capability by producing designs, associated drawings, information, calculations and enabling improvement of transport system operational performance in line with policies, technical strategies and local procedures as required


What we expect you to be doing?


  • Ensuring the safety, functionality and compliance of newly implemented or altered assets, engineering processes, procedures or systems.
  • Supporting the technical definition, development and implementation of low complexity engineering solutions through the application of defined engineering standards and governance
  • Undertakes on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works as required, resolving and or escalating risks and issues as appropriate
  • Maintains working knowledge of applicable standards, design codes and legislation applicable to their discipline or functional specialism
  • Evaluates, selects and applies appropriate solutions to low risk/value/complexity engineering problems that improve efficiency or effectiveness, while improving safety and reducing operating costs.
  • Makes technical recommendations for own discipline or functional specialism to customers or senior management to inform technical decision making
  • Supports continuous improvement through the use of best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis

  • Proficient working experience within the Telecoms industry.
  • Proficient level experience of Telecoms engineering and its practical application to high
  • value programmes.
  • Basic record of continuing professional development.
