The role

We are looking for an experienced Software Tester to join our Technology Team. You’ll work across our Web and CRM development teams to ensure a high level of quality is achieved throughout the development process.

Primarily, you’ll perform manual and UAT testing for all new features and bug fixes to ensure that they are fit for purpose for the user and that no defects make their way into production. However, this is a wide ranging role perfect for someone who would like to utilise their skillset to improve overall quality of systems.


This is a new role for the team so you’ll have the opportunity to shape our ways of working, bringing your knowledge of best practice. You’ll get to work with a wide range of technologies and be part of a team who are passionate about delivering technology to enable us to achieve our goal to be the number one place for all things student accommodation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure business requirements defined by our Product Team or Business Stakeholders are fit for purpose at the start of any development, ensuring exception cases have been captured and any dependencies identified
  • Provide input to the development team to help them deliver a good coverage of unit testing for existing and new features, driving forward a culture of test driven development
  • Define and run test cases for all changes to the system, ensuring new features have been developed to requirements
  • Perform UAT to ensure changes are fit for purpose for users and work with our UX Designer to ensure the user experience has been considered
  • Perform regression testing before any changes are released to the live environment
  • Perform device and browser testing for all front end changes
  • Support with performance and security testing
  • Support the team with first line support for any bugs and incidents that are reported
  • Proactively use the monitoring tools in place to identify issues before they escalate
  • Work across a variety of applications, responsible for the QA across our website, customer portal, Salesforce CRM and API integrations


Skills and experience:


  • Our ideal candidate has an incredible eye for detail and is able to use a variety of tools and techniques to ensure systems are reliable and deliver a great user experience
  • You’ll have been in a similar role and have 3+ years’ experience in software testing or quality assurance with full understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • You have proven experience in manual and UAT testing and test with the user in mind
  • You’ll love to use your logical approach to solve problems
  • You’ll have a methodical approach, using your organisational skills to prioirtise effectively
  • You are able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members
  • You enjoy collaborating and you’re a team player who is happy to support others
  • Ideally you’ll have some experience with automated end-to-end testing , including tools such as Cypress, Playwright or Laravel Dusk
