About us

UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU).

The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases. Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists. The Institute works with academic collaborators in more than 60 countries worldwide and a significant number of commercial partners.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology at UCL is at the forefront of resolving internationally important questions, primarily in infectious diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. A key goal is to deliver swifter and more effective translation of scientific research into patient and public health benefits. It does this by carrying out challenging and innovative studies, and developing and implementing methodological advances in study design, conduct and analysis. The MRC CTU at UCL is a UKCRC registered trials unit.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.

About the role

An enthusiastic committed and professional individual is sought for the role of Programme Research Administrator. You will provide support to the Cancer Theme which is comprised of two research programmes (Evaluating New and Existing Healthcare Technologies), supporting key scientific staff in this area as well as the wider Unit as part of the Research Support & Administration Functional Group.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to provide administrative support across a wide range of core MRC CTU activities as the need arises, developing their understanding of the research environment in which the post will operate as well as promoting a positive working environment and being a team player.

Key Programme tasks will include, organising and minuting meetings and events, monitoring project milestones, assistance with procurement, expense and budgetary management, diary management and travel arrangements as required.

The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

About you

No two days are ever the same in the role we offer. This is a development level role for a highly organised, flexible candidates who is prepared take on a variety of tasks and manage their portfolio of work working directly with Senior Staff. You should have strong communication skills (written and verbal) and be willing to work with personnel across the Unit ranging from Professorial and Clinical down to Trial Managers and operational staff.
