About us

The UCL High Energy Physics Group has an opening for an outstanding particle physicist to work in the precision muon physics group, which comprises work on the Fermilab Muon g-2 and Mu2e experiments.

About the role

The aim of the position is to lead the analysis of the full dataset at Muon g-2, including a focus on improvements to particle tracking; to commission and develop the DAQ for the STM detector at Mu2e; prepare for and participate in the analysis of early data from Mu2e in order to understand the detector and physics performance; and to participate in the work of the Precision Muon Physics group at UCL.

This position is funded for 2 years in the first instance.

About you

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Physics and expertise in in particle, nuclear or astroparticle physics.

Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication.

Knowledge of particle tracking algorithms and muon experiments is desirable.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £33,619. -£36,348. per annum, inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
