Consultant Clinical Psychologist – Trauma and Neuropsychology

Are you an outstanding Clinical Psychologist working in Neuropsychology looking for new challenges and career development? We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly experienced individual to lead the Neuropsychology Service at UHCW NHS Trust. UHCW NHS Trust is a busy regional Major Trauma Centre and specialist centre for Neurosciences providing care for a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. UHCW also provides acute and hyperacute stroke services for Coventry and Warwickshire. This newly created substantive post will provide you with an excellent opportunity to lead developments in trauma and neuropsychology within the Trust. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and compassionate person to join an expanding team of skilled and highly motivated neuropsychology staff who provide high quality care to people with acquired brain injury.

You will be based at University Hospital in Coventry and, as well as service delivery, the post will provide leadership and strategic direction to the future development of neuropsychology including major trauma services within the hospital. You will also be providing clinical supervision to other clinical psychologists and colleagues as required. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of service development, management and implementing change in a relevant work setting.

  • The post holder will operationally lead and manage the Neuropsychology service, providing evidence-based specialist assessment and interventions for patients and families referred to Neuropsychology. They will be responsible for maintaining professional practice standards within the service. They will provide a high-quality psychology service and maintain a clinical caseload appropriate to the grade, and to provide supervision and consultation to psychology staff and colleagues where indicated.
  • The post holder will be expected to have advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in order to deliver highly specialist psychological assessments of patients based upon the appropriate use, analysis, interpretation and integration of highly complex psychological and physical health information collected from a variety sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in their care.
  • To formulate, make decisions and implement highly specialist plans for the psychological treatment and/or management of a patient’s psychological problems based upon appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s difficulties and employing evidence-based, effective interventions
  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group
