Position Overview & Specifications

Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor Band 3

Elective Orthopaedics

Full time - 37.5 hours per week

If you enjoy working with people and are you interested in working alongside Occupational Therapists in an acute hospital setting, then this could be the job for you.
We are looking for a capable and adaptable individual to join our friendly Musculoskeletal in-patient team at UHL.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a multidisciplinary team. Our purpose is to enhance the patient’s functional independence and safely discharge from hospital. You must have a clear understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy.

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be motivated, organized and have the confidence to use your initiative for problem solving.

You will need to have had experience of working with a variety of different people. Previous experience in therapy is desirable, however work experience in a healthcare setting will be considered if appropriate.

Clerical experience and the ability to use computers are desirable in these posts, as administrative and clerical duties are involved.

Post holders will work their core hours Monday to Friday but will also be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a roster system.

  • To feedback, monitor and update on the progress and needs of clients/carers to the relevant professionals.
  • Set outcome related goals with the patient, in order to meet the needs of the patient within agreed scope or under the guidance of a registered professional member of the team.
  • To liaise with other disciplines concerned with the care and treatment of patients.
  • Undertake and deliver appropriate training and development to maintain a high quality of service including team development/in-service training.
  • To participate in the collection, recording and inputting of statistical information e.g. TIARA.
  • To recognise own limitations and awareness of when to seek guidance from registered staff.
