Position Overview & Specifications
The role
You will hold a shared appointment in Classics and Ancient History (50%) and Liberal Arts programme (50%). You will contribute to the teaching and administration of Liberal Arts and the teaching and administration in the Department of Classics and Ancient History. Your discipline will be in any area of Classics and Ancient History, and you should be able to demonstrate excellence in their given area.
What will you be doing?
You will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality teaching and administration within both Liberal Arts and the Department of Classics and Ancient History, and to pursue research and research impact in your area of specialism to the highest standards in order to enhance the international research profile of the Department, the School of Humanities and the Faculty of Arts.
You should apply if
- You are dedicated to interdisciplinary education and research.
- You are a specialist in any area of Classics and/or Ancient History and/or Classical Studies with a clear interdisciplinary approach; for example (but not limited to) history/philosophy/archaeology/literature intersecting with visual arts/drama/film.
- You are able to deliver courses in Classics and/or Ancient History and/or Classical Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise undergraduate dissertations and act as a personal tutor to students in the Department and supervise postgraduate research students (MPhil and DPhil).
- You are able to lead one or co-convene at least one of the core Liberal Arts units, likely Experiencing the Aesthetic, and contribute to others. In Liberal Arts, you will supervise undergraduate and Master’s-level dissertations and act as a personal tutor to Liberal Arts students.
