The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Communication Systems and Networks research group working as a Research Software Engineer (RSE) for High Performance Electromagnetics, in partnership with the university’s Advanced Computing Research Centre’s Research Software Engineering group.
What will you be doing?
The focus of this role is to develop a scalable, efficient electromagnetics model. The post holder will work as part of a team of researchers in the Communication Systems and Networks research group to support their objective of developing a scalable, efficient electromagnetics model that supports the design and development of ultra large scale antenna arrays for wireless power transfer. In this role, the post holder will work to ensure that software developed is produced to a high standard, e.g. including robust testing, complete documentation, utilising a clean and modular design, and is packable into easy-to-distribute and easy-to-install applications to support dissemination and technology transfer.
You should apply if
In order to fulfil these functions you will need expert knowledge and experience of research software engineering; meaning computer programming and hardware; experience of using key software development tools, specifically C++, version control systems (e.g. git), unit testing and documentation. A knowledge of other programming languages and libraries such as CUDA and Python, or the desire to learn them, will be beneficial.
