Position Overview & Specifications

The role

Student Visa Services are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the team in ensuring compliance across the institution with the University’s UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Tier 4 sponsorship licence and its obligations. As well as compliance with obligations for all the University’s students who are subject to immigration control.

As this post is required to handle Biometric residence permits (BRPS) and use a secure Home Office system, as required by Home Office guidance, this post can only be held by; UK nationals, nationals of an EEA state or Switzerland who have either pre-settled or Settled status under the EU Settlement scheme, or any Third Country nationals who have current Indefinite Leave to Enter or Remain who are approved by the Home Office following a background check. Irish citizens may also be approved under the Common Travel Agreement rules. A non-EU or EEA national who holds pre-settled status under EUSS will not be approved. Any offer is subject to the role holder holding an appropriate immigration status, consenting to the background check, and being approved by the UK Home Office.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensuring day-to-day compliance with UKVI obligations.
  • Reporting via the UKVI’s Sponsor Management System.
  • The creation of Confirmations of Acceptance for Study (CAS).
  • Documentation gathering from students.
  • Carrying out Right to Study Checks.
  • Issuing BRPS and any other responsibilities that stem from the Student visa sponsor licence.

This role is a campus-based role; however, some home working is permitted in line with the University’s policy on home working. At peak periods, some activities require full-time on-campus presence (e.g. issuing BRPs and checking Right to Study).

You should apply if

  • You can demonstrate a number of competencies including; attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a variety of work activities in a busy environment.
  • You will ideally have some relevant experience managing large datasets.
  • Working to established policies and possess the communication and customer care skills to deliver a high quality service to a range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Good computer skills; working with Excel, Word and MS Outlook is essential.

Desirable:

  • A working knowledge of UKVI legislation, policy and regulations and an in-depth understanding of compliance as it relates to students and higher education institutions is desirable, although not essential, as training will be given.
