These posts fall within the Department of Accountancy, Finance and Economics (AFE), which deploys around 36 staff to deliver its own set of degree programmes, plus servicing of subjects such as business maths, economics, accounting finance and law across the full spectrum of programmes within LIBS. AFE has recently validated three MSc programmes: Banking and Finance; Economics and Finance; and Economics to build on undergraduate programmes of Banking and Finance; Economics and Finance; Business Economics; and Economics. The team also owns Accountancy and Finance and Business and Finance.

Our strategy is to combine excellent teaching with research and research-engaged teaching and learning, and we are keen to continue our excellent track record in the NSS (with Economics ranked first in the 2020 NSS). The Department has made a significant contribution to the Business School’s REF submission, and we also offer our students the opportunity to take part in the Lincoln Student Managed Investment Fund, which gives them real world investment experience, and is supported by local industry and staff within the Department.

The Job

You will be expected to contribute to teaching and research in economics for AFE and the wider LIBS. We encourage applications from all areas within the field of economics, however, we would be interested in receiving applications from candidates with an expertise in a one or more of the following areas: Labour economics; Data Analytics; Industrial economics; European economics; International economics; Statistics and Mathematics for economists; Political Economy; Health Economics.

About You

You will possess a PhD in an area of economics and have either a Master’s or a first degree in Economics. You will have a good knowledge of quantitative methods and economic theory; the preferred econometrics package is STATA. You will also be equipped with the skills necessary to undertake academic research and publish output in leading journals in the field of economics and will have skills to deliver effective teaching and learning activities at different levels, as well as supervise the research work of others.

You will have excellent written, verbal and communication skills, and good administrative skills. In addition, you will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to form collaborative relationships both within the University and externally.
