Position Overview & Specifications

Full-time, Fixed term until 01/09/2023
The Domingos Lab at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics is seeking a driven and experienced Laboratory Technical Administrator to join our groundbreaking research group. Our mission is to uncover the biological basis of obesity and we need a dedicated team player to help us achieve our goals.
As the Laboratory Technical Administrator, you will be an essential member of our team, playing a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our laboratory. You will be responsible for a variety of technical and administrative tasks, including managing the scientific process, maintaining quality control, and supporting the day-to-day running of the lab. Additionally, you will obtain or renew a PIL A, B, or C for rodent experimentation and work closely with our veterinary team to guarantee seamless animal experimentation.
We are looking for someone who is committed to advancing scientific research in the field of obesity and has a strong background in working with mice and licensing (PIL A, B, or C). The ideal candidate will also have experience working with hazardous chemicals, proficiency in R12 and MCMS, and a BSc or equivalent in science and animal handling.
Your excellent administrative skills will be put to the test as you prepare and distribute papers, agendas, minutes, and briefing notes. You will also be responsible for managing the financial aspect of the lab, including travel expenses, invoices, and allowances.
The successful candidate will possess excellent troubleshooting skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to organize laboratory samples and record results in a clear and organized fashion. You should also have knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment. Supervisory experience is a plus, but not a requirement for this role.
This exciting opportunity is available immediately and will be based at The Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Sherrington Rd, Oxford OX1 3PT. If you have any informal enquiries, please direct them to the DPAG HR Team at hr@dpag.ox.ac.uk.
The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 17th February 2023 and interviews are likely to be held on Friday 24th February 2023.
Women, black and minority ethnic candidates who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford are particularly encouraged to apply. Join us in our mission to make a difference in the field of obesity research!
