Position Overview & Specifications
A key part of this role will be to deliver a high-performing health and safety culture to meet the requirements of legislation, regulations, and university policies. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all staff, students and visitors have access to appropriate health and safety training and information, and that they are demonstrably competent to work safely within the department.
An important element of this role will be the ability to analyse and design practical solutions to health and safety issues, and an ability to deal with difficult situations, to lead change by influencing behaviours with a high level of tact and diplomacy, at all levels of the organisation. You will work across all departmental areas including the research and teaching laboratories.
We expect you to hold a degree in a science-based subject or have substantial experience in a Health and Safety role. You will have expert knowledge of safety legislation and its implementation, particularly within a Chemistry laboratory setting.
We are looking for someone with Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to persuade and influence a wide range of people to achieve changes in behaviour and culture.
