Position Overview & Specifications

Are you interested in working for a top-ranked Management School which has achieved accreditation from the three largest and most influential business school associations: AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.

With world class facilities, ground-breaking research and cutting-edge thinking, we are seeking applications from ambitious, highly motivated and talented individuals who will be keen to play an active role in maintaining and enhancing the Managements School’s international reputation for research, teaching excellence and innovation.

We are seeking candidates with an outstanding interdisciplinary research profile and clear potential as a future academic leader. If successful, you would be appointed as a Senior Research Fellow on an ongoing contract. You would have clear targets for research and leadership development over a five-year period. At the end of that five-year period, following the achievement of your research plans, you would progress to a full academic position within one of our academic departments, while remaining a key member of the Flagship Energy Institute.

During your first five years, you will focus almost exclusively on developing your interdisciplinary research profile, pursuing opportunities for high profile external grants, producing an array of high quality publications and exploring opportunities for partnership building and knowledge exchange and demonstrating the impact of your research. We will look to provide you with opportunities to develop your leadership skills, through supporting the leadership of a research group or other aspect of the Flagships activities. We will also provide you with leadership development through our Sheffield Leader program, in order to build these skills and equip you as an academic leader of the future.

This is a unique opportunity for outstanding researchers with real potential to drive forward their research career and develop their research leadership skills whilst on a pathway to becoming a senior academic.

We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
