Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher to join the group of Dr Cécile Crosnier in the Department of Biology and the York Biomedical Research Institute (YBRI) at the University of York (https://www.york.ac.uk/biology/our-staff/dr-cecile-crosnier). The research project will investigate host:parasite interactions during the host immune response to Schistosoma mansoni infections. The position is funded by an MRC Career Development award, initially for three years with possibility for contract extension. You will have access to the outstanding Bioscience Technology Facility, which offers access to a wide range of state-of-the-art imaging, proteomics, genomics and bioinformatics services. The Department of Biology is one of the largest departments at the University of York and delivers world-class science. Role
The laboratory is looking for a talented, enthusiastic and highly-motivated post-doctoral research associate with a strong interest in host:parasite interactions and immunology. You will be expected to conduct individual and collaborative research projects both within the Department of Biology and with external collaborators to further our understanding of the molecular mechanisms used by the helminth Schistosoma mansoni to establish chronic infections in its human host. You will use a range of biochemical and cellular approaches to investigate host:parasite protein:protein interactions involved in host immune modulation during infection. You will also use serological studies to investigate the host humoral response associated with protection from re-infection.
