We need passionate, creative and dedicated people. In return, you will be encouraged and empowered to be yourself at your very best. Together, we will make a bigger difference.

Join WaterAid as Photo Librarian to change normal for millions of people so they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. On top of that you'll be joining a 2020 Great Place to Work® award-winning organisation.

About the Team:
The WaterAid Photography team produces award winning content that supports WaterAid both in the UK and globally to raise awareness of the global water and sanitation crisis and WaterAid's work to change this. As part of the Creative Content team, we develop creative communications that have impact and deliver change: ensuring WaterAid leads the way with innovative and engaging storytelling content with clear brand purpose.

About the role:
As our highly organised and detail orientated Photo Librarian you will be instrumental in ensuring that colleagues across the organisation are able to find and share the photos and case studies they need in order to produce effective communications for their audiences and you will curate our photography so that the newest and strongest photo and stories are promoted and available to use.

In this role you will help to implement a new digital asset management (DAM) system or improve our current system, bringing film and design assets into the same system. You will then oversee the flow of photography and some film assets within the organisation as they move from content creators to end users ensuring they are correctly key worded with the correct usage rights and consents in place.

You'll also:

  • Create training guides and roll these out to all relevant teams. Then provide regular training to all WaterAid staff.
  • Ensure all information on the system is accurately key worded and up to date, specifically complying with GDPR rules and WaterAid's representation and anti-racism policies.
  • Carry out picture research requests or support colleagues in their research as required.
  • Collate content for and draft the monthly Creative Content newsletter.

About you:

  • Experience managing digital asset management systems - including excellent knowledge of key wording systems.
  • Picture editing and research experience in a relevant sector, plus sound knowledge of ethical practice in the collection and use of NGO imagery.
  • Knowledge of photography formats, workflows and postproduction processes.
  • To be process-oriented and have a methodical way of working with a high attention to detail and accountability in checking the accuracy of information.
  • Excellent written English, with meticulous attention to grammar and spelling in writing up and editing captions and case-studies

Our Benefits:

  • 36 days' holiday (including 8 Bank Holidays)
  • Option to buy an extra 5 days annual leave
  • We offer a generous pension plan with employer contribution of up to 10%
  • Wide range of flexible and agile-working arrangement
  • Season Ticket Loan

  • Pay as You Give charitable giving scheme
  • Enhanced Maternity and Adoption/Surrogacy pay, Shared Parental Leave and Paternity Leave
  • Sabbaticals
  • Volunteer Day
