Warehouse Staff

We Staff are currently recruiting for warehouse operatives to work with our very established and unique client based in the Dagenham, just off of Dagenham Dock station.

The general job title is Foundry Operator. This involves being stationed at the machine and doing the following.

• Take the parts off the machine as they are produced.
• Break the feed off the part either by hand or using a dedicated hydraulic press at the machine to trim them
• Inspect each part for obvious casting faults (metal missing, cracks etc.)
• Sometimes filing, sanding or removing excess metal (flash) from each part or doing some other form of operation and ideally, keeping pace with the machine output
• Conducting hourly quality checks on the parts using various types of basic gauges / equipment
• Recording these checks on a special form
• Flagging to others any faults or defects on the part early so it can be addressed / improved by others who may need to change the machine settings or by some other activity.
• Stacking and packing the parts into the correct containers and in the correct way. This includes filling out by hand, a bin card to identify each container of parts
• Completing the operator time sheet by hand at the end of each shift to record how many parts are made and how many scrap etc
• Cleaning the machine cell area at the end of each shift
• There may be other tasks such as moving good parts, scrap or other materials using a pallet truck or similar method or other related general operations

The operator will need to be

• Literate (to understand quality check paperwork and other internal documents)
• Ability to communicate in English (to understand instructions and enable adequate training)
• Ability to learn (to be trained on how to stop / start the machine and learn what defects to look for, how to conduct the quality checks, H&S procedures etc. )
• Able to concentrate for long periods

6:30am to 6pm

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Dagenham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

• Warehouse: 2 years (preferred)
