Position Overview & Specifications

WEA have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Improvement and Assurance Lead to join our North West team.

The role will be home based, however the expectation is that the role holder will travel and cover the geographical patches within the North West Region, including Liverpool, Manchester and Cheshire.

The Quality Improvement and Assurance Lead will support the Head of Region, working closely with the Head of Quality and Performance and other Quality Improvement and Assurance Leads in the further development and leadership of its quality assurance processes.


The Quality, Improvement and Assurance Lead will play an important role in supporting teams to collect quality data including learner voice, retention, achievement & progression and in the production of the regions self-assessment report.

You will undertake internal quality audits and deep dives in preparation for any inspections. You will support the Quality and Performance Team in delivery of the lesson observation cycle, learning walks and support for cases on notice to improve.

You will support, monitor and review the operation of the Quality Assurance and Self-Assessment policy within your allocated region. You will act as the key link for the region with the Quality and Performance Team to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach to quality and performance across the Association.

Assisting in the detailed analysis of student achievement, preparing results for presentations and publications to share achievement and celebrate the learner journey.

As the regional lead for EME and accreditation, you will assist in the organisation of internal quality audits. As well as coordinating and supporting moderation and standardisation of RARPA courses, supporting the training of colleagues where needed.

As a Quality Improvement and Assurance Lead, you should have:

  • A teaching qualification;
  • An assessor and internal verification qualification;
  • A good understanding of the width and depth of post-19 curriculum and qualifications;
  • Experience of supporting the development of teaching, learning and assessment in further education;
  • A sound understanding of English, Maths and ESOL;
  • Experience of observing teaching and learning and moderating observations;
  • Excellent communications skills including presentations and report writing;
  • Ability to lead, support, mentor and coach teams and individuals in order that they can reach their potential and to ensure continuous improvement of quality in line the Associations aspirations for students;
  • A strong team work ethic. We like to collaborate and support each other;
