Ben Shieldaig & Couldoran Estate is a thriving and robust mosaic of native woodland and open habitats, on the doorstep of the iconic Torridon landscape in the heart of Wester Ross. Our vision is to conserve and expand upon the existing ancient woodland, and create healthier, more resilient habitats for wildlife and people.

THE ROLE
The Wildlife Manager will lead on wildlife management on the Woodland Trust Scotland’s Ben Shieldaig & Couldoran Estate, including deer management and control, record keeping, larder work and impact monitoring.

You will represent the Woodland Trust to outside organisations, individuals and the general public, working with the local Deer Management Group and partners in the wider area. You will also work with Woodland Trust staff and contractors to assist with other tasks on the estate including wildlife monitoring and estate maintenance.

THE CANDIDATE
With specialist knowledge of managing deer and other wildlife primarily in an upland environment, you’ll be familiar with and experienced in NatureScot Best Practice Guides for Deer Management. Wildlife conservation and habitat management experience is also essential.

You’ll need to be qualified to DSC Level 2. You’ll hold a firearm certificate and a full driving licence as well as certificates of competence in use of all-terrain vehicles. A use of a car will be provided.

Please note there will be occasional travel to other Woodland Trust Scotland locations.
