An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Chef to join our Development Team, here at Yorkshire Baker. The main purpose of the role is to develop first to market savory pastry, prepared meals & dessert products for our food service customers.
Main duties include (but not limited to):
* A great understanding and knowledge of all things food, from world flavors, classic and new techniques, social media trends and a real foodie who has a passion for eating and developing great products
* Plan, lead and execute internal and external events with the aim showcase Yorkshire Baker as a market leader innovative, handcrafted products
* You will keep up to date with kitchen trends, raw materials, manufacturing & the latest chef techniques in the food industry
* Create and deliver recipes that align to the product strategy agreed by the Head of Innovation, NPD Manager & Category Manager in line with Yorkshire Baker strategy and brand standards
* Through confident presentation skills, you will lead internal meeting and customer meetings to talk through your inspiration, recipe development and processes associated with each recipe
* As part of your role, you will understand the major Retailer and Foodservice categories and products within them
* Constantly focused on innovation and high-quality recipe development in line with Yorkshire Baker values and customer briefs and strategic food plans
* Be a quality champion on the factory floor where your knowledge & skill sets are used to help others
* As part of your role, you will have a strong knowledge of factory processes that will deliver artisanal products on mass scale and to be able to support from concept to launch
Candidate requirements:
- A great passion for food and developing products to a high restaurant level is essential
- Experience in cooking at Michelin or Rosette level in hotels or restaurants
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of working as a development chef
- Previous experience of developing for M&S would be advantageous
